Lounger
This project explores design for manufacturing by developing an outdoor seating or planter solution using metal and wood construction. Each design must consider structural integrity, durability, and outdoor suitability while also addressing flat-pack or collapsible assembly for retail purposes. The process involves concept ideation, CAD modeling, material selection, and full-scale prototyping, with each team member responsible for fabricating a key component. The final design balances cost, ease of assembly, aesthetics, and functionality, demonstrating skills in practical manufacturing, problem-solving, and elegant functional design.
My group and I chose to do a lounge chair made for parks and other outdoor spaces for pedestrians to take a break.
